EPL: Why Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea don’t have Premier League fixtures this weekend

For the first time in its 30-year history, the Premier League will have a winter break.

However, it will be very different from what happens in other countries.

Eight teams will be in action on Saturday and Sunday, while the other 12 complete Match Day 26 next weekend.

This means, for instance, that Chelsea and Manchester United will have a full 15 days off, before they clash at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard has taken his Blues squad to Dubai, while the Red Devils are in Spain.

Arsenal are also using the break for warm-weather training in Dubai, as Mikel Arteta prepares his side for the final three months of a strange campaign.

The Gunners welcome Newcastle next Sunday.

The only top-six team in action this weekend, will be champions Manchester City, who host West Ham at the Etihad.

Coronavirus: Japan set to repatriate 200 citizens from Wuhan

Japan will send a chartered flight to the central Chinese city of Wuhan later in the day to repatriate about 200 of its citizens, the government says. The government will also send doctors, nurses and quarantine officers so that those Japanese citizens can undergo checkups on a plane, according to the health ministry. The aircraft is scheduled to come back to Japan on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi says. Since a total of 650 Japanese in Wuhan wish to return, the government will send more flights to take them home, Motegi says. FA Cup: Man Utd set condition to sack Solskjaer, identify replacement

Manchester United may consider sacking manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, if results do not improve at the Old Trafford this season, the Daily Mail reports. England boss, Gareth Southgate, has now emerged as a leading contender to take over after Euro 2020. United are keen for Solskjaer to turn things around, but the 46-year-old privately acknowledges he will not be given three years to win a trophy like Jurgen Klopp was at Liverpool.
